Simplaris BlogCast - If you are a business owner, or small business marketer with a blog, this one will monitor your blog RSS feed for updates, and update your profile feed with each new blog post.  I like it because it updates your status feed, and puts an icon next to the feed update that makes it stand out to visitors.
Networked Blogs App – Similar to Simplaris, this Facebook application not only updates your profile feed with each new post, but it also is a place for blog owners to build a reader base.  When you get enough readers to join your blog ‘page’ it unlocks other features.  You can ‘go pro’ giving you the ability to message all readers (similar to fan pages).  Here is the Networked Blogs page for MarketingProfessor.com on Facebook (feel free to become a reader).

Both of these tools are great ways to extend Facebook for business in a soft way (“selling” can have adverse effects for sure).

My LinkedIn Profile – You can put a LinkedIn Badge on the Info tab of your Facebook profile which allows visitors to hop over to your LinkedIn profile page with a click.

Facebook Video (Default App)– Facebook has made major strides when it comes to video, not the least of which is the addition of HD (high definition). 

These applications are a great place to start using Facebook for online social networking.  While social marketing has been around, using Facebook for business is relatively new.  Since applications are coming out all the time, consider how you can use them to extend the reach of your business.

Nu Skin was named one of the “100 most trustworthy companies” in the U.S. by Forbes on Monday. The company was listed 5th in the mid-cap company section and received an accounting and governance risk (AGR) score of 96/100.

After having covering the many recent bankruptcies and corporate scandals, Forbes wanted to find and recognize the “most transparent and trustworthy businesses that trade on American exchanges.” To do so, the media outlet hired an independent financial analytics company, Audit Integrity, to identify the top accounting and management practices in the country.

The financial analytics company screened 8,000 companies traded on U.S. exchanges and found 100 companies that “consistently demonstrated transparent and conservative accounting practices and solid corporate governance and management.” Companies’ performance on Wall Street were also taken into account for the ranking.

In the article, Jack Zwingli, chief executive of Audit Integrity, applauded companies like Nu Skin that made it on the list.

“These are the good guys,” said Zwingli. “They’ve consistently shown accuracy and transparency in their financial reporting.

Zwingli added, “These companies have made it through our screening process and shown consistent high quality. Healthy individuals are often that way because they don’t engage in unhealthy behavior. These companies are the same way.”
